|adult Glaucous x Glaucous-winged Gull||
Fig 1) From a distance this gull seemed like a Glaucous Gull. Closer inspection revealed gray scalloping in the primaries, a dark eye, a rather thick bill with a large gonydeal angle and a dark mark in it, and smudging on the breast that resembled Glaucous-winged. The mantle also seemed too dark for Glaucous. February 2, 2013. Davis, California. Photo by Steve Hampton.
|Fig 2) This bird is very similar to the one above, with gray scalloping in white primaries. Again, the dark eye and large gonydeal angle are reminiscent of Glaucous-winged Gull. March 10, 2012. San Leandro, California. Photo by Noah Arthur.|
